LIVERPOOL CONTACT DORTMUND ABOUT SANCHO SIGNING

According to German news media outlet BILD, Premier League outfit Liverpool have inquired about the possibility of signing Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho in the summer. Sancho is a well-known long-term target of Liverpool’s rivals Manchester United, but with United failing to land their top transfer target last summer, they could lose out on the England international star to the Reds.

Manchester United manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær expressed his desire to the Red Devils’ bosses that he would love to have Sancho in his team and they did try to sign him by opening talks with Dortmund. However, the German club insisted that they were not going to part with their prized asset for anything less than their £120 million valuation of the winger.

United tried to beat down the price so they could get the deal over the line before the deadline Dortmund set would elapse, but their failure to convince the Bundesliga giants to bring down their asking price meant that the deal was never going to happen in the end.

And now, it appears that Liverpool are interested in joining the race to land the former Manchester City starlet in what could spark a transfer twist in the summer. The Reds are said to be preparing for a potential Mohamed Salah exit, meaning that they would need to sign a worthy replacement for the Egypt star.

Although it does not look likely that Liverpool would be willing to pay the £120 million Dortmund will be asking, the Reds are reportedly confident that they can arrive at an agreement with the German side in a bid to sign the player ahead of their arch-rivals.

It’s going to be interesting to see which side between Manchester United and Liverpool that will go on to sign Sancho in the summer, but as per reports, the player is more interested in a switch to Old Trafford.
