KLOPP SAYS LIVERPOOL NOT READY TO MATCH CITY YET

By | February 20, 2022

Even though a lot of people believe that he is just playing mind games, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that his players are not ready to catch up or match with league leaders Manchester City yet even though he saw his side reduce the gap between themselves and City to 9 points following their 2-0 win over Leicester City. Diogo Jota was the star performer and stole the show as he notched the two goals Liverpool needed to secure a much-needed win over Brendan Rodgers and his men at Anfield on Thursday night. Liverpool will already have it at the back of their mind that if they continue notching up wins, they might as well be in a very good shape when they play City at the Etihad in April. However, Klopp insists that his side are not close to City yet.

In his post-match interview, Klopp said that Liverpool are not not yet ready to turn up the heat against Manchester City at the top of the table because Pep Guardiola and his men are a better side than them so far this season. The Reds are comfortable placed in second position in the Premier League table and the nine points that separate them from City is still realistically possible to meet up with but Klopp does not want to get drawn to such suggestions and has played down those talks.

However, the Reds manager stated that even though they are still a little bit far away from City in the Premier League table, they will be doing everything they can to catch up with their fierce rivals. The manager also added that they still have the UEFA Champions League to focus on and it will be slightly hard for them to be at their very best in the two competitions. But in conclusion, he said that no matter what it takes, they will continue to give their all.
